Primary Purpose
Assesses, proposes, and manages projects in terms of equipment, labor, length of project and cost; determines regulatory and technical aspects of the project, manages the project from start to finish; visits sites before, during, and after project to ensure safety and satisfaction to internal and external customers, mentors junior staff, and supports other project managers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
Manage and oversee large, technically and logistically complex shipping campaigns from remediation projects involving transportation and offsite disposal.
Assesses and fulfills project needs in terms of equipment and labor, oversees safety and adherence to timeframes and costs throughout the project to ensure external and internal customer satisfaction.
Plans for initiation of project by scheduling resources; visits and works on sites during project; orders supplies, equipment, trucks and drivers for projects
Ability to waybill and track railcars, including cars loaded with TSCA and/or RCRA Hazardous Waste, as well as plan ahead with respect to project railcar capacity needs in the most efficient manner in order to fulfill customer needs and avoid demurrage and private railcar storage.
Must be able to provide timely, concise and relevant information to customers, management, and coworkers. Provide guidance to team in order to meet budget expectations
Be intimately involved in scoping, risk assessment, and pricing of projects, assuring proper margin is quoted. Prepare required reports, including proposals, cost estimates, comprehensive scopes of work, and shipping and volume reports.
Act as an agent of business and is involved with developing and maintaining relationships with key customers and vendors. Interfaces with internal and external customers, contractors, subcontractors, and railroads.
Responsible for project productivity and adherence to timeframe and budget and to ensure proper safety procedures are being followed at projects and rail yards
Develop business opportunities from existing customer base.
Responsible to ensure customers are correctly billed in a timely fashion. Required to help manage credit and collections issues as it relates to work generated within the business units.
Good knowledge and understanding of various Federal, State, and local industry-related regulations.
Assist in the training and mentoring of current and/or new employees

Education: High School diploma or its equivalent required. Four-year degree in a technical field major preferred.
Experience: Minimum six years waste management experience, including hazardous waste, in environmental field with project management and logistics experience required.
Knowledge and Abilities: Cost estimating and computer experience. Proficient in Windows based activities, especially Word and Excel, knowledge of DOT, FRA, OSHA, and EPA regulations. Strong leadership and organizational skills and excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts. 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER and DOT Hazmat trained. Must be able to travel.
A post offer drug screen will be required.
