The opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University seeks a Temporary Desktop Support Specialist on the Prescott Campus. This position will last approximately 4-6 months and will assist with deploying computers and peripherals as part of the technology refresh project. This includes imaging, installing, disconnecting, reconnecting, upgrading, and inventorying computer hardware and/ or peripherals while ensuring optimal workstation performance.

Responsibilities include:Prepare new systems for deployment following standard procedures including imaging and installation of software or peripherals. Coordinate installation with the customer. Remove old computer equipment and process surplus equipment. Update appropriate inventory systems to reflect the status of deployed and replaced systems. Assist with projects as assigned. Work could involve supporting onsite and offsite projects and after normal business hours.Maintain accurate and timely documentation of progress in the ticket database. Participate in project status meetings. Provide regular project updates. Communicate issues, critical problems, and situations to appropriate management levels.

This is a

temporary position ; employment will not exceed six months, and the position is limited to 30 hours per week based on seasonal or project-driven workloads. Working hours and schedule will be based on the needs of the temporary workload.

Qualifications

• High School (or GED) level ability in grammar, spelling, basic composition, and math.

• 1 to 3 years IT related work experience

• Excellent customer service skills.• Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate with various levels of personnel to understand the problem and complete written documentation that is geared appropriately to the audience.• Professional, positive image.• Strong PC trouble shooting skills, including both hardware and software.• Basic knowledge of networking.• Knowledge of software, including office productivity tools (e.g., MS Office), and web conferencing (Teams, Zoom).• Experience with Microsoft Windows (10) required. Experience with Apple OS and Linux highly desirable.• Ability to tactfully handle difficult situations and ability to maintain composure under pressure.• Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities based on new work assigned.• Work independently and with little direct supervision.• Ability to support IT Core Values by focusing on improvements, believing in our team and partners throughout the university, learning from mistakes, being accountable for actions and showing determination, focus and tenacity.
