Our client is a Global Financial Services firm located in Chicago. The Electronic Trading Infrastructure Team is looking for a highly motivated technologist with a focus on network infrastructure for low latency/high frequency trading. This future teammate will join other energetic and highly experienced engineers to help maintain the firms position as a market leader.Responsibilities:Analyze project requirements and produce a set of network/infrastructure design options to present to the firm's businesses globally. The future teammate will interface directly with business leaders and be able to communicate direction to the firm all the while maintaining a set of global firm standards.Recommend new products to advance our infrastructure catalog. Perform and document certifications and build proof of concepts in our state-of-the-art lab when required.Work with other internal infrastructure groups, as well as external partners like carriers, service providers and hardware vendors to augment and deliver next generation network designs.Provide technical escalation/support for when issues arise to maintain firm infrastructure stability.Leverage automation skills to bring a DevOps approach to bringing our world class solutions to market.Other duties as assigned.Skills:A strong working knowledge of high frequency, low latency trading concepts. The teammate should be intimately familiar with trading services from a multitude of Exchanges/Venues around the globe.Display broad knowledge in architecting and implementing complex telecommunications or data system integration solutions. Designs should incorporate connectivity solutions to collocations with major datacenter providers.Advanced knowledge of network concepts including but not limited to:Application and network communication standards such as the following are required: TCP/IP, Ethernet, InfiniBand, IPv4/6, NAT, FIX, RDMA/ROCE, QOS, Load Balancing, DNS, ARP, MAC, VRF, overlay networks.IP unicast routing: BGP, OSPF, RIP, Spanning Tree, ECMP.IP multicast routing: IGMP, PIM, MSDP.LAN switching. VLANs, IEEE 802 standards, PAgP, LACP, MLAGSecurity: Knowledge of encryption including Site-to-Site VPNs using IPSec and MACSec. Stateful and stateless inspectionWireless Communication: Radio frequency and microwave solutions; experience with 5G a plus.Passionate mindset in taking a DevOps approach to automating aspects of the infrastructure (participation in open- source projects is a plus). The candidate should possess the following experience:Strong scripting experience in Python including extracting and updating network devices and interacting with the infrastructureExperience working on shared code bases using best practices in CI / Source Control / Release Management / Code Review and Change ControlNetwork and Infrastructure Configuration managementConfiguration management experience - Ansible Automation engine a plus.Data structures formats (JSON/YAML)Passionate mindset in taking a DevOps approach to automating various aspects of the network
Strong experience working with Linux and other operating systems. Candidates must be knowledgeable of server components well enough to be comfortable working and obtaining information from servers, including knowledge of modern server build processes.A knowledge of industry leading network connectivity products from an array of vendors including hardware-based solutions such as ASICS and FPGAs.Experience working with timing protocols such as PTP, NTP, 1PPS, White Rabbit and antenna installations. Experience working with vendors such as Meinberg and Orolia/Spectracom is a plus.Must be able to demonstrate working with and analyzing packet captures as well as experience working with various capture tools.Possess advanced troubleshooting abilities in one or more technical disciplines within the telecommunications or data network, but not limited to routing/switching infrastructures, transport technology, or network protocols.Solid oral and written communication skills. The future teammate must be able to verbally communicate clearly with others.Experience working on a Global team; interfacing with other regions; High level of initiative, proactive approach coupled with self-motivationIndustry recognized certifications like CCNP or CCIE are a plus.
