8771BR Position Title: Business Analyst/Application Manager Organization: Sponsored Research Services Job Responsibilities: Work with functional and technical SRS experts to ensure functionality and optimization of SRS grants module requirements in the existing Novelution application. Identify and document functionality gaps in the application from stakeholders and transfer these needs to RIT project team, vendor and others for continuous improvements, tickets, and reports during implementation. Liaison with ITS, SRS administrative users, other RIT offices and stakeholders, and the vendor to be RIT manager of the application; including use questions, capabilities, bugs, and testing configurations available to RIT for the SR application; file tickets for changes and test plans for user acceptance. Assist SRS in internal user training of SRS staff; creation of varied training media including videos for rollout of SR module and training for new college and researcher users, and continual onboarding of new researchers to the application. Advise on training delivery methods and assist in content production. Assist in strategy, including project management, discovery process and documentation of business processes, user stories, and data flows for implementation of new application add-on modules involving non-financial agreements, human subjects review, and potentially other modules going forward. Assist in existing data migrations to new modules. Create architecture diagrams for the Novelution platform and all inputs and outputs Maintain and update Novelution training resources library for SRS and researchers for all modules. Assist in creation of enterprise ticketing system for reporting bugs and questions going forward with web interface. Provide business analysis to the OVPR regarding research data reporting, and creation of reports on research metrics as needed inside and outside application. Aid in improvement and finding automation of other office business processes via creation of forms, web tools, surveys, workflows, or automation of reports using existing RIT software tools or external tools. Manage and update content and communication for the SRS website; including training information and other SRS content; modify website to assist with knowledge articles and collections Perform other related outreach and communications tasks, presentations, and participate in special data, software tools decisions, metrics collections, and other projects as requested by SRS management. Wage Band (https://www.rit.edu/fa/humanresources/content/staff-wage-grade-bands) : 120A Required Qualifications: Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree 4-5 years of prior experience in Business Analyst or Application Manager role supporting business technology platforms and or educational initiatives is required, but a combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience with business technology applications platforms totaling these years of experience may be accepted. 1-2 years experience project management or training on entity implementation of new software application. 1-2 years experience creating software manager documentation or training materials for end users. Skills: Prior experience as the application manager of a software tool, or the rollout/training of a new software application to a business entity. Previous experience with project management and project management software. Conducted prior business analysis assessment of data needs, workflows, gaps, and solutions. Mastery of all Microsoft Office products; including creating customized databases in Access or related software, advanced excel skills, and presentations; Previous experience with several project management software tools and ticketing systems; Ability to work within the systems development life cycle (hybrid, Scrum-Agile project framework). Prior experience with HTML programming; website development; and web publishing experience; History of creating multi-media training tools and documents; and training users on software; Fluent in ADOBE tools and form development, as well as Qualtrix survey tools; Expert in collaboration tools such as Zoom, Teams, Slack, OneNote, and GoogleDocs required. Can learn and communicate diverse business technical workflow information and ideas to non-technical staff. Work Location: Hybrid Remote/On-campus Job Summary: Support all business and technical aspects of the implementation and roll-out of RITs new grants management application software platform, Novelution. Work with diverse team of Sponsored Research Services (SRS) staff, ITS project team, users, researchers, and vendor(s) to gather current and future business process requirements, application capabilities, and RIT configurations, to continually optimize use and effectiveness of application to execute growing needs of SRS for grants management and data reporting. Use project management skills in a team environment to examine existing processes and data flows to complete requirements analysis and testing on implementation of SR module; work with application project team to find bugs and possible enhancements to the application, draft and submit tickets for vendor review, create test plans for RIT review of vendor changes and fixes, execute test plans, and perform user acceptance testing. Configure Novelution system as needed and allowed by software for RIT needs. Create and assist SRS in internal application manager documentation, training of SRS staff, training for new college and researcher users, and continual onboarding of new researchers to the application. Become a key point of contact for all application updates, external data migration into the system, and internal technical questions on the application, as well as long term planning for the application in light of vendor enhancements. Participate in all application implementation testing, training, and strategy sessions, including discovery process and documentation of business processes for implementation of new application add-on modules involving non-financial agreements, human subjects, and potentially other modules. Prepare training documentation across multiple media types, as needed, for the application. Provide other business analysis to the office regarding research data reporting needs, trends and reports as needed. Assist in administratively providing regular updates to the SRS website from content experts in the office. Be a part of the technical team to learn and understand the office and data challenges, and then assist in identifying internal or external software applications and workflows to solve these issues. Aid in improvement and automation of other office business processes and assist in creation and standardization of regular internal and external forms, surveys, communications and annual reports.
