Summary:
Our client a large, reputable financial service company is looking for an experienced Network Security Specialist to join their fast growing team. This position involves responsibilities related to network security, specifically the design, configuration, and administration of various security components within the enterprise. The successful candidate will have expertise in security and load-balancing systems, including firewalls, load-balancers, and proxy services. Attention to detail, adherence to processes, and discipline are crucial in this role, given its impact on a production financial environment.
Essential Functions:
Implement and maintain firewall policies, including IPS and transparent proxy profiles, to support new technologies and projects.Manage load-balancers and associated algorithms across multi-datacenter infrastructures to ensure application growth and redundancy.Create and maintain firewall policies, IPS, and proxy profiles with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Define firewall objects, group objects, and rules efficiently.Develop connectivity designs in alignment with project/task requirements, employing best-practice technologies.Implement and troubleshoot security architecture to address deficiencies and enhance the company's strategic direction.Respond to issue escalations and service interruptions as part of the technical team.Ensure tasks are completed in accordance with best practices, security guidelines, and timelines.Manage multiple priorities effectively.Prepare technical presentations for management.Maintain positive relationships with vendors, consultants, and colleagues.Evaluate emerging technologies and product platforms in alignment with business drivers and infrastructure needs.Essential Qualifications:
Advanced understanding of proxies and related technologies, including SSL Inspection, Web Filtering, and Application Control.Knowledge of SSL/TLS security, including certificate inspection, deep packet inspection, and certificate management.Strong understanding of firewall logic, including NAT/PAT, VPNs, and remote-access VPNs.Proficiency in Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking design and implementation.Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP addressing and sub-netting.Experience with packet capture and analysis.Exceptional technical documentation skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Familiarity with current best practices in IT standards, principles, and security practices.Willingness to work after-hours (evenings and weekends) as required.Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of corporate experience in the United States.Proficiency in network security technologies including firewalls, IPS, proxy, SSL, NAT, TCP/IP, and Fortinet.Hands-on experience with FortiNet and Cisco firewall platforms within GUI and CLI.Familiarity with F5 Local and Global Traffic Managers, including iRules configurations.Basic understanding of layer 3 protocols (e.g., HSRP, ARP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP).Basic comprehension of layer 2 technologies, including (Rapid) Spanning Tree Protocol and LACP.Knowledge of logging aggregation and reporting via SNMP and SYSLOG.Clean credit and background requiredPreferred Education/Experience:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical studies.
