Ensuring the availability, performance, security, and integrity of databases, including Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and MongoDB Database Administration: Manage and administer the AWS-based databases, including Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and MongoDB, ensuring high availability and data integrity. Performance Optimization: Monitor and tune the performance of databases to maintain optimal efficiency and responsiveness, addressing performance bottlenecks proactively. Backup and Recovery: Implement and oversee database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data is protected and can be restored as needed. Database Security: Implement and enforce security measures, access controls, and encryption protocols to protect sensitive data stored in the databases. Database Upgrades and Patching: Plan and execute database upgrades and patching, staying current with the latest releases and security fixes. Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for the databases, including failover and replication mechanisms. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve database-related issues, working closely with development teams and other stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve problems. Data Migration: Assist with database migration efforts, ensuring smooth data transfer and minimal downtime during migrations. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Automation: Identify opportunities for automation in database administration tasks and develop scripts or tools to streamline repetitive processes. Cloud Best Practices: Stay informed about AWS cloud best practices and recommendations, implementing these practices in database management. Compliance and Auditing: Ensure that databases adhere to regulatory compliance standards and participate in audits as needed.
Education Qualification
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline.
General Experience
At least ten (10) years of experience as a Senior Database Administrator, managing diverse databases in an AWS cloud environment. Expertise in administering Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and MongoDB databases. Strong understanding of database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security best practices. Familiarity with AWS cloud services, IAM roles, and security groups for database administration. Experience with database migration tools and techniques. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address database-related issues. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect, are advantageous.
