Title: Manager I, Facilities Life Safety
Under general direction, plans, develops, directs, implements and monitors the maintenance of the Life Safety Equipment for the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) to include elevators and lifts, fire alarm systems, sprinklers, fire extinguishers, intercoms, and audio visual.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are representative of this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Tasks and responsibilities will be in concurrence with implementing the Strategic Plan and Aligned Management System. Other duties may be required and assigned.Schedules, assigns, and supervises work of employees; recommends overtime assignments as neededResponds to specific request for services from schools; communicates and coordinates those needs' requests to the appropriate personsSupervises Fire Alarm Technicians, A/V Technicians, and Fire/Equipment SpecialistsCoordinate training for direct reportsAssigns and ensures that daily work orders have been complete and closed outInstructs and evaluates employees in the performance of their dutiesAllocates resources such as supplies and inventory, etc.Coordinates with Regional Facilities Managers on specific needs in their regions.Collaborates with Operations, General Maintenance, and Maintenance departments, as well as the safety coordinator, on projects or issues related to building issues or constructionsCoordinate with Fire/Equipment Specialist to ensure DCSD facilities are up to date with all necessary fire and code inspections.Makes direct contact with school personnel throughout the school system to enhance customer satisfactionOrders and maintains a sufficient inventory of supplies needed to perform specialized tradesOversees the inspections of school building district wide to ensure operational readinessPerforms other duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an approved accredited college or university is requiredIf a bachelor's degree is not held, candidate must hold an associate degree or equivalent and minimum six (6) years of extensive work experience in technical/professional level industrial hygiene or closely related field may be substituted for educational degree requirements.Minimum three (3) years of experience in a custodial services environment required. Supervisory level work experience in facilities management or custodial services environment preferred
