This position serves as an Enterprise Print Support Administrator performing difficult and specialized professional and advisory functions in the Midrange Wintel Systems Administration & Support Unit for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT). In addition, you will perform research, planning, administration and implementation of customer system accounts for appropriate security permissions and access to systems, applications, folders, and files. Essential Functions

40% Under general direction, serves as an Enterprise Print Support Administrator performing difficult and specialized professional and advisory functions in the Midrange Wintel Systems Administration & Support Unit for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT):

Maintains and manages infrastructure supporting the enterprise network printer environmentDirects print server in cooperation with other software and hardware techniciansInstalls and updates printer drivers and printer configurations to ensures printers are accessible to appropriate customersCollaborates with technical staff on network, mainframe, and minicomputer print environment configurationsUtilizes SharePoint and Microsoft desktop packages, network communication concepts and principles, including network, routers, routing protocols, switches, firewalls, Virtual Private Network (VPN), Domain Name Service (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) in performance of duties20% Performs research, planning, administration and implementation of customer system accounts for appropriate security permissions and access to systems, applications, folders, and files:

Administers and manages customer system credentials for Microsoft Active DirectoryCreates agency customer accounts with appropriate permissions to file servers, printer servers, shared folders and applicationsGrants end users access to InternetModifies scripts and customer configurations to ensure appropriate system accessMoves and deletes accounts per agency and customer job requirementsUtilizes Microsoft Windows Server as well as Active Directory (AD) environments including the administration of file structures, user accounts, security groups, permissions and distributed file shares in performance of duties10% Performs professional advisory functions necessary for the access and security of agency and customer data:

Coordinates and works directly with customers and technical staff to create necessary file structures to support customer data requirementsMoves and copies data to support requirementsDevelops and runs scripts to support the movement of large amounts of dataInitiates appropriate security permissions to provide customer access to data as well as ensure the confidence of the data10% Provides diagnostics of hardware, software and operating system problems especially as it pertains to the maintenance of customer permissions to servers, folders, data, applications and printers:

Interviews and consults with customers concerning desirable changes and performs comprehensive studies and analyses of customer needs and objectivesCoordinates and works directly with customers and technicians to obtain resolve to system problemsResponds to calls regarding emergency issuesEssential Functions Continued

5% Performs extensive research, discovery and planning to initiate customer testing and production migration of domain directory services from Novell Directory Services and legacy Microsoft Active Directory to the enterprise Active Directory environment, Illinois.gov:

Coordinates and works directly with customers and technicians on the migration of personal computers, printers, customer accounts, and dataUtilizes complex and specialized software packages and scripts to facilitate migration of file and print services to ensure appropriate data structures and permissions are in placeCoordinates the decommission of legacy permissions, attributes and directories5% Performs administrative functions in support of monitoring, review, and assignment of work:

Utilizes specialized application software for tasking assignments to appropriate techniciansResearches and develops supporting technical documentation especially as it applies to customer accounts, credentials and permissions5% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field:

Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on IT products, vendors, techniques and proceduresAttends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college, with course work in computer science or directly related fieldsRequires one (1) year of professional experience in systems services or in a related Information Technology fieldSpecialized Skills

Requires one (1) year of professional experience in Microsoft Windows Server as well as Active Directory (AD) environments including the administration of file structures, user accounts, security groups, permissions and distributed file sharesRequires one (1) year of professional experience with Microsoft Active Directory and other directory structures including working knowledge of migration software and scripting languagesRequires one (1) year of professional experience in Network communication concepts and principles, including network, routers, routing protocols, switches, firewalls, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and WINSPreferred Qualifications
