About the College/Unit/Department

In 2018, The UGA Tifton Campus began a yearlong Centennial celebration with various events to commemorate its 100th anniversary of providing updated research to the community.

Research is done on a wide range of commodities, including cotton, peanuts, vegetables and turf grass, all of which make agriculture the No. 1 industry in Georgia.

In 2004, a teaching program was initiated and it has been growing ever since. College-level instruction on campus is aimed at undergraduate and graduate-degree level study.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with sufficient experience to show competence and innovation in server and system administration.Work experience implementing and supporting applications and databases on Amazon Web Services.Position Summary

This position is part of the Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health at the University of Georgia - Tifton Campus (Bugwood). The Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health develops, maintains and hosts a large number of digital tools and resources including web, smartphone, and database applications. The IT Systems Support Professional will have a working knowledge of Amazon Web Services as the platform for Center applications. Applications hosted by the Center use different server side technologies including Windows Server, Linux, ColdFusion, PHP, IIS, Apache, and NodeJS. While this is a diverse set of tools, this professional should be either familiar with their configuration or able to quickly learn how to setup, secure, monitor, recover, and troubleshoot system issues and bottleknecks. This position will also work with application programmers to ensure they are aware of and able to follow best practices for continuous deployment of applications and efficient use of system resources.

Update software and digital infrastructure to maximize system performance, security, and availability while minimizing costsWork with developers as they build digital applications to advise on workable solutions given capacity, benefits, limitations and costsAnalyze logs and setup alerts to monitor utilization of infrastructure capacity, identify potential performance bottlenecks and prevent development of issues that may lead to incidents of application downtime or degraded application performanceWork with developers to monitor and maintain workflows for continuous integration and continuous deployment of improvement to applicationsPercentage of time 60 Duties/Responsibilities
