Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will assist with managing Shipping and Receiving; proper packing/crating techniques and loading/staging of product and vehicles.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

•Follow internal procedures regarding pick/packing/staging shipments, receiving materials, and issuing purchase orders.

Shipping / Staging / Packing / Loading:

•Locate items, gather product and hardware, and stage items in shipping area.

•Use best packing and crating methods for all shipments to include appropriate labels to avoid damage in transit. Build crates, skids, gaylords, etc.

•Load shipments using best practices onto vehicles, specialized equipment, or trailers; to include LTL, TL, dedicated trucks.

•Use computer and phone to answer emails and book shipments/schedule trucks.

•Utilize company ERP system to plan shipments and issue purchase orders.

•Keep detailed records of all items leaving the facility; copies of BOLs, photos, etc.

•Track shipments as needed. Communicate with internal departments on discrepancies and delays.

•Hold transportation partners accountable for best pricing, delivery, and services.

•Assist with end of month close for freight purchase orders and invoices.

Receiving:

•Physically receive products and materials. Inspect all incoming products for damages and report issues immediately.

•Work with purchasing to put away materials received, and label (if required). Ensure items are placed in their proper locations.

•Assist purchasing with returns and damaged materials.

Inventory:

•Advise purchasing when shipping supplies are low.

•Assist with cycle counts of material as needed.

•Working with purchasing to organize and maintain stock room and material areas.

This position will also be responsible for:

•Keeping the yard and shipping/receiving areas clean and organized.

•Checking all orders before packing and advising production if there are issues or discrepancies.

•May require staying late or arriving early to meet or load trucks, pickup/deliver raw materials, and/or deliver products.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements:

•High school diploma required.

•Intermediate computer skills.

•At least two years' experience in shipping, receiving, and inventory.

•Requires physical labor with lifting and moving products and material.

•Forklift certified.

•Valid current driver's license with a clean driving record.

•DOT eligible preferred.

•Excellent communication skills. Ability to handle pressure. Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to multitask and stay organized. Understand computers and technology.

•OSHA 10 or 30 desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; work with their hands handle, or feel, whether directly manipulating components or using controls on an assembly machine. Employee must be able to talk or hear over shop noise. Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 to 75 pounds and move it for at least 50 feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

MECHANICAL / TECHNICAL SKILLS:

The employee must be able to read and understand blueprints, manuals, and work with computers, and machines. Math: Basic math is needed
