This is an opportunity for a Sports Science Internship integrated within the high-performance department at Angel City FC. The internship is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience for a person pursuing sports science opportunities in an elite or professional sporting environment.
This position is based in Thousand Oaks, California, at the first team training ground.
This is a paid internship. Roughly 30-40 hours per week.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist in collecting and analyzing performance data during team training sessions, individual sessions, return to play (RTP), and matches.Work closely with the performance department to interpret data related to player workload, individual performance plans, and recovery.Assist in daily, weekly, and prescribed monitoring of player progress and health and determine any relevant adaptations to training programs.Collaborate with our medical staff to implement individualized injury mitigation strategies.Observe RTP sessions and contribute to player recovery plans.Aid in the development and delivery of specific protocols related to testing, workload management, and progressive longitudinal tracking.Contribute to ongoing projects that aim at player profiling and contributing to the team training methodology, & periodization.Share new sports science literature and contribute to ongoing research projects.Deliver two in-service presentations on relevant female performance topicsContribute innovative ideas for improving player performance.Desired Skills & Requirements:
Relevant degree or educational background in sports science, kinesiology, or strength & conditioningExperience working in Power BI, Google Sheets, Excel, etc.Previous experience working with sports science technologies such as GPS, Forceplates, Isometric testing, etc.Previous experience within a team environment with a strong interest in soccer and athlete developmentExcellent communication and team-oriented skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environmentProactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative
