Minimum Qualifications

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years' experience developing and supporting web applications (front-end and back-end development).• Experience with back-end web development on Linux web server environments; knowledge of Linux OS and usage of BASH• Experience developing and supporting web applications on a cloud infrastructure such as AWS• Experience with basic design and editing of images for use in websites• Working knowledge of MySql or other relational databases• Working knowledge of Plone CMS full-stack web development• Working knowledge of WordPress development• Working knowledge of XML, Json, Ajax, and React• Strong ability to translate business processes into professional web-based applications utilizing responsive design and process workflow concepts.• Working knowledge of PHP.

Position Summary

The Southern Regional Extension Forestry (SREF) Office within the Warnell College Forestry and Natural Resources is seeking a highly responsible IT professional to work on a variety of forestry & natural resource outreach related IT products, working on a small, nimble team. This position will work with the SREF team to design, develop, and maintain custom client-centric web-based applications.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Bachelors' degree in IT preferred.One year experience developing and supporting professional web applications.Proficient in Web front-end and back-end web application development utilizing Python and Java Script OOP languages and HTML and CSS markup.Self-motivated and willing to learn new knowledge & skills.Ability to work one-on-one and collaborate with a team.Prioritize, plan, and multi-task in order to meet deadlines.Attention to detail & focus on delivering quality products.

Duties/Responsibilities

Function as a full-stack Plone CMS developer including: brainstorm IT solutions, define scope and requirements, document design, develop code, deployment, testing, and overall lifecycle management of these systems.Work with SREF staff & clients to implement purpose-driven websites.Consult with clients to assess data requirements and processing specifications of website systems.Ensure the technology environment is secure and meets the University of Georgia's security policies and mandates.Develop and support other web technologies, such as WordPress.

Percentage of time 70 Duties/Responsibilities

Work closely with SREF staff, clients, and partners in the maintenance and support of SREF's hosted web applications and IT systems.Provide client support (and end-user web support), content management, and propose driven application modifications to support client needs.

Provide periodic written reports documenting the status and progress of project.Contribute to special projects as needed.Other duties as assigned.
