.Sign-on Bonus- $7,500Under the direction of a Radiologist, produces breast radiographs to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease for both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. This position requires intimate patient contact, excellent communication skills and the ability to work with initiative and accuracy. Responsibilities include diagnostic imaging, patient education, data collection, and regulatory compliance.Essential Job FunctionsUpholds the Mission Statement of UCMC: to provide superior health care in a compassionate manner, ever mindful of each patients dignity and individuality. To accomplish our mission, we call upon the skills and expertise of all who work together to advance medical innovation, serve the health needs of the community, and further the knowledge of those dedicated to caring.Handles confidential information consistent with Federal HIPAA legislation, and all other applicable federal, state, local, and institutional regulations with regard to confidentiality.Reviews physicians order to assure appropriateness of examination being requested.Selects appropriate exposure factors based upon breast tissue density, patients age, numerical compression scale, and technical equipment characteristics.Performs a variety of clinical breast procedures with efficiency and high standards of quality; assures that the proper protocol is used for any given examination; evaluates images for diagnostic quality prior to submitting for interpretation.Assist physician in set-up and performance of breast interventional procedures.Actively participates in the quality assurance program by performing specific quality control procedures as directed by the Imaging Center Leader or Imaging Team Leader.Recognizes report and document malfunctions of technical equipment.Reviews images for proper positioning, technique and identification.Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the online picture archive and the radiology information system by consistent and accurate input of data into the system.Follows established workflows.Interfaces with customers, patients and their family members, medical staff, and visitors, in a friendly, professional, courteous and accommodating manner; demonstrates the consistent use of the AIDET principles; demonstrates flexibility in accommodating special needs of customers whenever possible.Shares information about new techniques and procedures with colleagues; assists in the training of new staff and student technologists.Maintains physical work environment to be in compliance with regulatory certifying agencies. Adheres to all infection control regulations.Recognize report and document malfunctions of technical equipment.Performs other duties as requested by senior management.Required QualificationsHigh school graduate or equivalency required.Certificate from approved AMA program in Radiological Technology required.Certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)Current Advanced Certification Certificate in Mammography by the American Registry of Radiological TechnologistsMinimum 3 years experience as a radiographerRequired to do weekly QCMust demonstrate excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skillsMust demonstrate good decision making and judgment skillsMust be able to function in fast paced environmentMaintain required mammography continuing education as mandated by the Mammography Quality Standards ActPreferred QualificationsExperience with diagnostic/procedures 2 years.Experience with automated whole breast (ABUS imaging).Licenses/Certifications:
