POSITION DESCRIPTION The Dental Hygienist will clean teeth and examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease. The position also educates patients on oral hygiene, takes and develops x-rays, and applies fluoride or sealants.Salary:DOE: $40 - $45/hourGeneral Duties & Responsibilities:Perform dental hygiene services and procedures, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, fluoride and sealants, and root planningComplete a thorough assessment of the patient's teeth, bone, and periodontal tissues, and document any abnormalities or suspected conditionsCustomize care to meet patient's oral healthResponsible for period charting, updating clinical notes of patients, and taking x-rays as neededEducate patients on good oral hygiene techniquesAid the dentist with procedures and emergencies as neededMaintain patient confidentialityProvide all care in conjunction with accepted professional dental practices and standardsFollow COVID-19 protocols, including wearing a face mask while at work, washing hands regularly, and keeping frequently touched areas cleanTravel to other Columbia Dental locations to provide coverage when requested by the ManagerOther relevant duties and responsibilities as assignedQualifications & Skills:Detail oriented Excellent interpersonal communication skillsExperience working in a dental office is a plusWillingness to learn and growExcellent organizational skills to effectively handle multiple tasksProven dedication in providing high-quality, comprehensive dental careAbility to comply with safety procedures, rules, and regulations in order to maintain a clean and safe working environmentStrong working knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and practicesReliable and flexibleSelf-motivated with the ability to exceed patient expectationsExcellent customer service and computer skillsEducation & Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of dental hygieneRegistered Dental Hygienist licensure in state of practiceCurrent CPR certification is strongly preferred1-2 years of experience working in a dental practice is strongly preferredMust be a Certified Dental Technician (CDT)Physical Demands:Prolonged periods of standing, leaning, and bending as neededManual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment, keyboard, copier, telephone, and the ability to write/typeMust be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally*Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.Note: The organization reserves the right to change the responsibilities and duties of this or any position at any time due to business necessity, with or without notice.
