Registered NurseTeam HighlightsCardiac Medical (3 North) is a cardiology focused medical surgical unit. The patient population is made up primarily of patients with cardiac diagnoses including but not limited to CHF, brady and tachy arrhythmias, NSTEMI, pulmonary embolisms, and chest pain. Most patients on the unit require telemetry monitoring that is monitored by a central monitoring studio. Interventions for this patient population typically include echocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations, stress tests, pacemaker placement, Lasix drips and heparin drips. Further education for nurses consists of a detailed cardiac essentials module and a basic cardiac rhythm interpretation module. 3N continues to take medical and surgical overflow patients as needed within scope.
