Explains test procedures to patients.¿ Plans, prepares, and administers respiratory therapy treatments including IPPB, aerosol, ultrasonic nebulizer, chest physical therapy, incentive spirometry, and sputum inductions in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.¿ Performs diagnostic pulmonary tests such as pulmonary function, lung capacity, and arterial blood analyses.¿ Teaches patients to perform breathing exercises and uses intermittent positive pressure breathing therapy machines.¿ Administers aerosolized cardiopulmonary drugs including bronchodilators, mucolytics and antibiotics.¿ Follows all safety rules applying to gas cylinders, ventilators, and all electrical equipment.¿ Records patient treatment, response, and progress.¿ Sets up, operates, inspects, tests, maintains and monitors mechanical breathing apparatus/ respirators, flowmeters, nebulizers, and other respiratory therapy equipment.¿ Responds to cardiopulmonary-related emergency codes and assists by maintaining the patient's airway and administering oxygen.¿ Performs other related duties as assigned.Required Skills / Abilities¿ Compassionate and empathetic interpersonal skills.¿ Excellent attention to detail.¿ Ability to interview and examine patients to identify breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders.¿ Ability to effectively consult with patients to identify programs and potential remedies.¿ Effective patient assessment skills such as vital signs, breath sounds, symptoms of distress, knowledge of medication, and how to troubleshoot.¿ Ability to record patient progress, and teach them how to take required medication/use necessary equipment.¿ Ability to remain calm and patient under stress.¿ Proficient with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Education and Experience¿ Associate's Degree and current CRT or RRT required.¿ Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role required.¿ BLS certification required.Physical Requirements¿ Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.¿ Prolonged periods of standing, bending and reaching.¿ Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
