13-week assignmentResponsibilities:

Take an active role in surgical procedures, under the direction of the Clinical Service Lead or Service Coordinator, ensuring instruments and equipment are available to their specialty service for use.Demonstrate knowledge in the care and handling of instruments, sutures, and other operating room equipment to decrease risk of surgical infection and to promote longer equipment lifespans.Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by preparing and passing of instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies needed during the operative procedure.Assists the RN in the delivery of care to the intra-operative procedure.Demonstrate knowledge of principles of surgical asepsis.Demonstrates proper handling of specimens.Consults with or advises surgical personnel of instrument or equipment needs requiring follow-up or attention.Utilizes physician preference cards and inventory lists to accurately organize equipment and supplies for operative surgical procedures.Proficiently performs all complex procedures listed in Surgical Technologist job description.Qualifications:

Current documentation of certification to practice surgical technology in Oregon required.Option 1: Successful completion of a training program for surgical technologists in a branch of the armed forces of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corp. Successful completion of 16 hours of continuing education every two (2) years relevant to the medical-surgical practice of surgical technology.Option 2: Successful completion of a surgical technology education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Certification as a surgical technologist issued by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or successful completion of the CAAHEP or ABHES educational program within the past twelve months.Option 3: Candidate has practiced surgical technology at least two (2) years between January 1, 2014 and January 1, 2017 in a hospital, ambulatory surgical center or as an employee of a federal government agency or institution. Successful completion of 16 hours of continuing education every two (2) years relevant to the medical-surgical practice of surgical technology.Healthcare Provider American Heart Association BLS required upon submission.Experience or training in computer applications preferred.Benefits Provided by Jogan:
