General job duties.

Types of procedures required.

Performs ultrasound procedures for general and vascular cases at a level of competence not requiring constant supervision to technical detail.

Assumes responsibility for designated areas, procedures and students as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Ability to read and communicate in the English language.

Mental Demands:1. Able to function independently with only minimal supervision from Radiologists or other Ultrasound Team members.

Makes pertinent observations regarding patient’s condition, anatomy, and abnormalities.2. Must possess considerable knowledge of human anatomy and must be able to make reliable judgment on areas of concentration.3. Shows initiative to go beyond requested procedures to uncover unsuspected anomalies.4. Able to handle stress of interruption while still making accurate decisions.5. Able to interpret patient clinical data in order to present concise medical history to Radiologist.

Contact with Others:1. Close patient contact during long procedures (up to 60 min./procedure).

May be exposed to unclothed patient of opposite sex.2. Frequent contact with Radiologists and physicians to discuss procedure protocols and case histories.3. Frequent contact with nursing personnel for purposes of patient preparation and scheduling.4. Frequent contact with radiology personnel as patients may have more than one study or may have need for transportation.5. Frequent contact with physicians and their offices for purposes of patient scheduling and obtaining patient history.6. Occasional contact with sales people or specialists, who present advancing technological change to the department.

Additional Information

1. Special procedures and requirements.Experience with both general and vascular sonography

2. Type of equipment.STAR Radiology Computer Terminals, Hewlett Packard Laser Printers, Tele-radiology Equipment, Diagnostic Laser Cameras and Keypads, All Ultrasound Equipment and Accessories, and PACS Hardware.

3. Additional skills and abilities.

4. Licensure and Certification requirements.Graduate of an Allied health Program (Radiologic technology, Nuclear Medicine or registered Nurse) or a graduate of am accredited ultrasound program and currently registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).

5. Call, special schedule or floating requirements.Schedule may expand to cover evening or weekend depending on patient demand.

Shared call. All procedures must be completed by the end of the day.

Overtime may be required.

6. Information about the department.Employee and one other US Tech scheduled throughout the day.
