We are seeking a motivated individual to join our
Corporate Occupational Health Services
team and provide onsite support for our Reading, PA manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate for the
Occupational EMT/Paramedic
is self-driven with strong interpersonal and communication skills used to provide excellent hands-on care to employees within a light-industrial environment while utilizing a process improvement mindset to proactively identify opportunities to enhance employee health and reduce work-related hazards and injuries.
In this position you will work collaboratively across a diverse range of functional teams, employment levels, and internal/ external partners. Candidates should have a passion for educating others about safety standards and requirements for minimizing worksite risks.Responsibilities
The
Occupational EMT/Paramedic
will be reportable to the
Corporate Medical Director
and is responsible for representing the Health Services Department consistent with the company's core values. The position will be the worksite(s) primary medical resource with oversight and support provided other members of the Health Services Team, with the following responsibilities:Build and maintain internal/ external relationships and partnerships,Support and administer onsite employee health and wellness efforts in partnership with human resources and benefits professionals,Collaborate with client professionals in health, safety and environmental practices to help minimize and prevent workplace injuries and illness and to decrease secondary and tertiary effects of injuries and illness which may adversely affect Alpek PolyesterDocument and manage information using electronic medical records software and other tools.Schedule with outside providers and/or contract physician/PA/NP: Pre-employment and post-offer screenings, Physical Assessment Testing (PATs), and return to work evaluations and assist areas with accommodation issues,Assist with Injury and Illness Case management and Safety with OSHA record keepingGeneral administrative duties to include fielding and responding appropriately to health-related phone calls, emails, and other electronic notifications within a reasonable timeAssess and assist employees with referrals to Employee Assistance Program for issues of substance abuse, counseling needs, financial and legal problems.Schedule immunizations with outside providers select employees to include but not limited to: Tetanus, Diphtheria, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, COVID-19, Whooping Cough, and Seasonal Influenza.Provide on-site evaluation and treatment of some minor non-occupational medical conditions, primarily using first aid measures (i.e. headaches, colds, muscle strains, and joint sprains, etc.) - refer to Nursing Standing Orders/Protocols).Dispense over-the-counter medications and provide/fit durable medical equipment for same.Treat any life-threatening emergency condition for the purpose of saving life and stabilizing serious condition prior to transport to clinic or hospital setting off site (May include application of CPR, or utilization of AED unit),Check and monitor vital signs and biometrics (height, weight, BMI, BP readings).Routine dressing/re-dressing of wounds as prescribed.Provide designated weekly reports, special status reports, and medical records to the Manager of Human Resources and Safety and the Corporate Medical Manager or their assistant upon request.May include provision of care via telehealth/virtual platforms as needed with Corporate Medical Manager or other Physicians.All other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Required:To perform this job successfully the individual must have the following or equivalent:AA Degree requiredBe able to operationally coordinate and administer all requirements of the positionHave valid state of Pennsylvania licensure and current CPR/BLS certificationHave strong computer and other technology skills (navigate cell phones, texting, fax machines, etc.), as well as familiarity with EMR softwareBe strong enough to lift a 50lb emergency response bagPossess excellent verbal / written communication skillsHave a positive and outgoing personalityBe passionate about people and giving them the best care humanly possibleBe able to pass an Occupational Health examination and pass a standard drug screenBilingual (Spanish) is required; fluency must be demonstratedRegular and reliable attendance expectedSuperior organizational and daily activities management skills
Preferred:Comfort working in a construction or manufacturing environment (plastics recycling a plus)Relevant occupational health experienceExperience in full-service primary care, urgent care, emergency medicine, or preventive medicine
