Director of Transmission and Interconnection

We're looking for a Director of Transmission and Interconnection to join a leading energy storage IPP that develops, owns and operates hybrid and standalone storage projects in the US.Key Responsibilities:
Take primary responsibility for extracting value and strategic growth through transmission and ISO/RTO strategy to enable an improved siting strategy, with the ability to demonstrate a reduction in project attrition due to interconnection (cost, timing or basis)
Perform interconnection project management, communicating the schedule and budgetary and milestone requirements for projects going through the interconnection process
Operate as a communication bridge between more technical internal and third-party engineering, commercial, development team and upper management
Perform transmission sensitivities and power flow analysis to support development initiatives.
Review transmission system analysis, identify interconnection agencies and procedures, and prepare and file interconnection requests including supporting internal and external parties with the preparation of technical materials. Provide viability feedback to the team and other internal stakeholders to support any financial and project approvals needed.
Expedite projects through ISO interconnection queues, timing queue entry and working with the ISO and TOs to minimize network upgrades and maintain project schedule
Together with the appropriate support team, reviews and develops interconnection applications, study agreements and associated drawings, specifications, and models
Comfortable performing power flow, dynamic, short-circuit and reactive capability of the projects
Estimates network upgrade costs and allocations based on the relevant ISO interconnection process
Work with internal subject matter experts to communicate interconnection and transmission issues related to the development and acquisition of projects
Participate in team member meetings for relevant generation interconnection, market rules and transmission expansion planning groups
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering
7+ years minimum of interconnection-related experience in at least two ISO/RTO regions. 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering
Proficiency with simulation software such as Power World, TARA, and PSS/E.
Knowledge of System Impact Studies (SIS) and other interconnection studies of battery storage facilities with the ISO/RTO markets and ISO interconnection processes.
Must have Interconnection Agreement negotiation experience
Strong understanding of utility business models, processes and incentives related to interconnection tariff
Excellent balance of technical, management, and negotiating skills. Clear communication is vital to the success of this position
Demonstrated management skills and ability to multi-task
Professional presence with strong communication and presentation skills
Able to build trust by demonstrating high ethical standards and personal integrity
Passion for working in collaborative environments and solving hard problems
