Job Description: Tag & Title Clerk
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Tag & Title Clerk. As a Tag & Title Clerk, you will be responsible for managing the paperwork and administration related to vehicle registration and titling.
Responsibilities include:
1. Vehicle Registration:
- Process vehicle registrations according to state and local regulations
- Ensure accurate completion of registration forms, fee calculations, and tax filings
- Verify all required documents, such as proof of insurance, identification, and ownership
- Coordinate with customers to obtain necessary signatures and documentation
- Perform customer service duties, such as answering inquiries and resolving registration-related issues
2. Title Transfers:
- Facilitate the transfer of titles between owners during vehicle sales or upon request
- Validate and process title transfer forms to ensure accuracy and legality
- Compile necessary documents, such as ownership proofs, lien releases, and power of attorney
- Communicate with insurance companies, financial institutions, and previous owners for necessary information
- Coordinate with customers to obtain required signatures and complete necessary paperwork
3. Documentation Management:
- Maintain an organized filing system for all vehicle registration and titling documents
- Accurately record and update customer information in tracking systems
- Ensure compliance with privacy regulations when handling confidential and sensitive information
- Assist in auditing and reconciling registration and title documentation periodically
4. Compliance and Regulations:
- Stay up-to-date with state and local regulations on vehicle registration and titling
- Attend training sessions and seminars to enhance knowledge and skills in the field
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies, such as the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), to ensure compliance
- Implement any changes or updates in regulations and procedures within the department
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in automotive or administrative fields is a plus
- Prior experience as a Tag & Title Clerk or in a similar role is preferred
- Strong knowledge of vehicle registration and titling procedures, preferably within the specific state's regulations
- Familiarity with various forms and documents related to vehicle registration and titling
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with MS Office and database management
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with high attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Customer service-oriented attitude to provide a positive experience for customers
