Our client is seeking a Senior Technical Accountant to join their growing team! This role will support the Company’s technical accounting and financial reporting function and responsible for conducting research on accounting literature pertaining to new business initiatives and assist with interim and annual SEC filings. The ideal candidate will be familiar with U.S. GAAP and technical accounting subjects, such as revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensations, debt and equity instruments, property plant & equipment, business acquisitions, variable interest entities, going concern and impairment analysis.
Responsibilities
Assist with conducting research on accounting literature pertaining to new business initiatives, contracts and/or transactions.
Assist with preparation of accounting memos for significant accounting transactions. Transactions include, but not limited to, mergers and acquisition, leases, debt, and revenue recognition.
Responsible for preparation of support workpapers, tie-outs, SOX checklists, etc. in connection with technical memos.
Assist with the preparation of accounting policies and procedures.
Assist with analyzing FASB new and proposed accounting standards and whether they impact the company.
As needed, assist with the preparation of interim and annual SEC filings, including Form 10-Q and 10-K, 8-K, financial footnote disclosures, and MD&A in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Work proactively with external auditors to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters and support finance & accounting teams to ensure proper accounting and disclosures.
Maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley controls for areas of responsibilities.
Assist with ad hoc projects and prepare responses to various requests for information.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience required; Big 4 accounting firm and CPA preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
Understanding of U.S. GAAP and FASB codification and pronouncements.
Ability to identify, research, resolve, and document accounting issues in a logical, clear and professional manner.
Fast learner with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies, developing strong relationships
High energy and intellectually curious – with a proven ability to communicate and manage timelines and deliverables
