At Northern Trust, customer experience is at the forefront of everything we do. To help us build functional systems that improve the customer experience, we're looking for a DevOps engineer who can be responsible for deploying product updates, identifying production issues, and implementing integrations that meet our customers' needs. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in software engineering and will work with developers and engineers to ensure that software development follows established processes and works as intended. The DevOps engineer will also help plan projects and be involved in project management decisions.

Objectives of this roleBuilding and implementing new development tools and infrastructureWorking on ways to automate and improve development and release processesTesting and examining code written by others and analyzing resultsEnsuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threatsIdentifying technical problems and developing software updates and fixesWorking with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intendedResponsibilities

Deploy updates and fixes, and provide Level 2 technical supportBuild tools to reduce occurrence of errors and improve customer experienceDevelop software to integrate with internal back-end systemsPerform root cause analysis of production errors and resolve technical issuesDevelop scripts to automate visualizationDesign procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenanceRequired skills and qualifications

Experience as a DevOps engineer or in a similar software engineering roleProficiency with Git and GitHub workflowsWorking knowledge of databases and SQLProblem-solving attitudeCollaborative team spiritPreferred skills and qualifications

3-6 years' experience with Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is required .You are proficient in Modern Application Architecture and Agile delivery in one or more of the following areas 1. REST API using Microservice Architecture (Java)2. Event Driven Architectures using Messaging (Kafka or Solace)3. Web application development using SPA architecture with JavaScript (Preferably React)4. DevOps and building PipelinesYou have experience in one of the following 1. Public Cloud(Azure)2. Kubernetes or Pivotal Cloud FoundryYou have strong understanding of nonfunctional requirements and SRE principles

Proficiency in one or more tools from below :

IBM FileNet, Robotics Process Automation, Kofax Total Agility, IBM BPM, Appian, MS SharePoint, Power Platform, Service Now, Dynatrace, GitHub.
