The City of Chesapeake, Central Fleet is seeking a dependable and self-motivated individual to deliver essential quality services to the citizens of Chesapeake on a part time basis. The candidate selected for this position will be responsible primarily for moving vehicles and equipment to and from local equipment dealers and shops for recalls, service and repairs. We are seeking a candidate who is able to follow written and oral instructions, is a good communicator, and who will be able to perform operator level maintenance and pre/post inspection of vehicles and equipment.

Required QualificationsVOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
: Requires completion of 10th grade in high school. High school diploma, GED or specialized vocational training is preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standard, this class requires a minimum of three months of related, full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
: Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards. Depending upon department requirements, a Commercial Driver's License ( CDL ), or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire, is also required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to confined spaces. Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
Preferred QualificationsCDL Class B is beneficial, Class A preferred. Experience operating a Rollback Tow Truck is a plus.
