POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an R&D technician who specializes in precision assembly and testing. As a hands-on R&D Technician at AOSense, you will work with physicists and engineers to build and test high-performance, fieldable accelerometers, gyroscopes, gravimeters, atomic clocks, frequency standards, and magnetometers, as well as component technologies that we sell commercially to the R&D community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Collaborate with physicists and engineers to assemble and test complex quantum sensor and atomic clock hardwareProcure and track inventories of mechanical, optical, vacuum, and electrical componentsCoordinate component and subsystem fabrication, assembly, and testAssemble precision mechanical systemsAlign lasers through optical systemsProcure and maintain laboratory equipment and suppliesCollaborate with engineers to define and implement test plansBake out and leak test vacuum systemsDocument and report results of validation testingRequirements

Demonstrated success in precision mechanical assembly of prototypes and productsEnthusiasm for developing expertise in new fabrication disciplinesProven organizational skills and attention to detailHands-on experience with test equipmentExcellent troubleshooting skillsApplicants should thrive in a dynamic environmentU.S. Government contracts require applicants to be U.S. citizens or permanent residentsDESIRED EXPERIENCE:

Expertise aligning and securing micro-optical componentsHands-on experience with vacuum system assembly and testingAdept in glovebox assembly workSensitivity to cleanliness requirements of vacuum and optical assembliesSkilled in mechanical prototyping, including basic machining and finishing operationsPractical experience with advanced bonding methods, including soldering, brazing, and adhesivesProficiency with SolidWorks mechanical design softwareFamiliarity with electronics prototyping, including reading schematics, PCB fabrication, assembly, soldering, and reworkExperience testing low-noise analog, mixed-signal, and rf electronicsBasic knowledge of data acquisition and analysis software such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, and PythonEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent professional experience, with experience in an R&D environment
