Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, is accepting applications for a full-time, employed faculty position in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

OVERVIEW:

  • The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills to practice outpatient and inpatient general and consultative cardiology.
  • A strong interest in echocardiography, with at least COCATS level 2 training and NBE board eligibility or certification, is required.
  • Responsibilities include patient care on the cardiac consultative and inpatient services, developing an outpatient general and consultative cardiology office practice, on-call coverage, and participation in the echocardiography laboratory.
  • The candidate will take an active part in teaching cardiology fellows, medical house staff and medical students.
  • Opportunities for research commensurate with experience and interest may be accommodated.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • MD or DO from an Accredited Program.   
  • Board-certified in Cardiovascular Diseases.
  • The ability to obtain a medical license in the Commonwealth of PA prior to start date

The Jefferson Heart Institute is the center of the divisions outpatient clinical practice, including patient testing, anticoagulation program, cardiovascular risk reduction program, and the Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Center. In addition to the Jefferson Heart Institute, the Division of Cardiology operates three outpatient satellite facilities and the newly opened Jefferson Angioplasty Center located in the Jefferson University Hospital.

  • The Division of Cardiology at Thomas Jefferson University is composed of 36 full-time academic cardiologists in an expanding multidisciplinary practice in a supportive environment, with strong clinical, research and teaching programs; including Critical Care Cardiology, a nationally recognized Structural and Interventional Cardiology section, a highly experienced Electrophysiology subdivision, and an expert Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant program.
  • Four Fellowship Programs that are accredited by the ACGME (American College of Graduate Medical Education): General Cardiovascular Disease (22 fellows currently), Interventional Cardiology (3 fellows currently), Electrophysiology (2 fellows currently), and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant (1 fellow currently).
  • Research: The Cardiology Division, despite continued challenges from the ongoing global pandemic, our team was incredibly active. From fellows initiating independent projects to sponsored trials, investigator-initiated studies, and faculty grants, the Jefferson Cardiology group continues to strive to maintain their competitive edge at the forefront of cardiology knowledge.
