Activities Director

We are seeking a dynamic individual to fill our Activities Director role. This position will require functional knowledge of adult day care policies and procedures, as well as time-management skills and the ability to meet elder individual and group needs in a professional and patient manner. Candidates must be able to work well with the senior population and have experience with staff management.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop and implement program objectives, a procedure manual and an organizational plan
Develop and post a monthly activities calendar
Document assessments, treatment plans, evaluations and clinical notes
Plan and develop as well as supervise and set up recreational programs
Teach or lead a class, a special group, games or other activities
Train and supervise staff to lead recreational activities such as games, fitness, arts and crafts, technology and music programs
Invite, coordinate and supervise recreational program volunteers or contracted professionals
Organize holiday, birthday and other special parties or programs
Plan excursions or outings
*Qualifications:
Be certified or eligible for certification as an activity director by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals OR
Be certified or eligible for certification as a certified therapeutic recreation specialist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation OR
A baccalaureate degree in recreation, creative arts therapy, music therapy, therapeutic recreation, art, art education, psychology, sociology, occupational therapy, gerontology or early education OR
Served as activities director in a medical day care facility since 1990 OR
A high school diploma and a minimum of three years of full time experience in activities in a licensed health care facility PLUS 90 hours of activity-profession-related training
