Role Overview: The rapid evolution of data center technologies and AI computing demands robust and innovative optical communication solutions. As an Embedded Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing high-speed optical communication systems. Your role will focus on designing control systems, programming microcontrollers/FPGAs, interfacing with peripheral electronics, and overseeing PCB design to ensure seamless integration with photonic components.

Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and validate embedded systems for high-speed optical communications, focusing on microcontroller/FPGA programming and peripheral electronics interfacing using protocols such as SPI and I2C. • Collaborate with the Photonics team to ensure optimal integration of electronic and photonic components. • Design or oversee the design of PCBs to ensure signal integrity and meet design specifications for power, cost, and dimensions. • Lead efforts in commercial-grade product development in collaboration with external manufacturing partners. • Provide technical leadership in firmware development, advocating for best practices in code quality, documentation, and version control.

Qualifications and Skills: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or a related field. • Minimum of 3 years of experience in embedded systems design, including proficiency with microcontrollers/FPGAs and interfacing with peripherals such as DACs, ADCs, amplifiers, and TIAs, using communication protocols such as SPI and I2C. • Solid foundation in control engineering principles, particularly in feedback loops, system stability, and response optimization, critical for developing robust and efficient control systems. • Basic PCB design experience/skills. • Strong analytical skills, with a methodical approach to problem-solving and testing. • Experience with high-speed optical communications and familiarity with photonic integrated circuits (PICs) is highly desirable. • Excellent communication skills, capable of working closely with cross-functional teams and external partners.
