THE ROLE

:

The Applications Engineer will be responsible for providing cordial, timely, and accurate Vertical Turbine Pump product and order support. This role will work together with engineering, production, and sales to understand the needs and desires of the customers and provide them with service levels that meet or exceed customer expectations.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

· Provide optimal design selections based on customer duty requirements.

· Select materials based on application requirements while also being cost effective to both the factory and end user.

· Update and research recommendations for product and system improvements.

· Provide selection and quotation training to external customers.

· Estimate project costing and negotiate lead times.

· Prioritize projects according to need and ability to win.

· Work with purchasing team to obtain costing for components for nonstock items.

· Maintain CRM funnel to ensure opportunity visibility by field sales team.

· Provide prompt feedback to customer orders.

· Review pump quotations versus design specifications

· Responsible for contractual management of non-project orders.

· Gather pertinent information for submittal creation and order execution.

· Achieve annual standard margin targets.

· Help site achieve annual revenue targets.

· Aid in review of customer credit requests.

· Customer satisfaction and retention.

QUALIFICATIONS

:

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.

· Three to five years related experience including pump sales and service.

· Must have knowledge of pump hydraulics, mechanics and construction, common metallurgical uses. Strong math and engineering skills required.

· Excellent interpersonal relationship building skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.

PLUSES

:

· Professional Engineering (PE) and/or Pump System Assessment Professional (PSAP) certification preferred.

· Salesforce, MathCAD, and Pump Selection Software experience is a plus.

· Ability to work with ambiguity, manage multiple projects at once, and to review technical documents.

· Ability to take a leadership role in group meetings and projects.

Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
