Job Summary :

The Application Engineer I works closely with customers, sales, engineering, purchasing, and external partners to understand customer requirements, prepare winning proposals for power system solutions and products, negotiate award, and see the projects through to completion. This role requires a sense of urgency, superior customer service focus, and excellent skills in problem solving, organization, and communications. The successful application engineer must be able to work well in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment, and must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Essential Functions :

Respond to technical questions from customers and sales in a timely, concise, and professional manner.Based on the understanding of customer needs/wants, competitive pressures, and application, work with the sales, engineering, vendors, and purchasing to develop winning proposals for power system products and solutions.Interprets systems study results to develop proper, cost-effective solutions.Establish and maintain contact with customers and sales for the purpose of effective product marketing and sales.Cleanse incoming orders to ensure prompt scheduling and order acknowledgement.Manages blanket contracts and commitments, including commodity escalation models.Provides product and application training to customers, sales, and the internal team.Coordinates customer visits and inspections and conducts customer factory tours.Prepare monthly forecasts, reports, summaries, and other documentation related to marketing activities such as bookings, sales, backlog, pricing, margin, negotiations, and customer satisfaction.Develops accurate costed bills of material for products and solutions.Writes technical specifications for power equipment.Technically evaluates bids for products and services from vendors.Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering from an accredited universityThree (3) years of experience with electrical power systems or electric power productsAbility to collaborate and work in a fast-paced technical and commercial environmentAbility to successfully manage projectsAbility to perform effectively in time-sensitive situations while maintaining a focus on qualityStrong analytical and creative problem-solving skillsSolid oral and written skills, able to effectively communicateAvailable to travel up to 25% of the timePreferred Qualifications :

Master's Degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis in power systems from an accredited universityFive (5) years of experience with electrical power systems or electric power productsKnowledge of power quality and static/dynamic reactive power compensationProject management experience
