Position Overview
Fractal is looking for a seasoned Data Scientist who can work with one of the top tech giant by applying various NLP techniques on text data coming from various sources (such as chat / call transcripts, reviews, forums, communities etc.). You will join our cross-functional Technology team, in the US comprised of Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Design Experts.
Customer reviews on various forums, communities and chat / call transcripts need to be analyzed using state of the art NLP techniques (BERT etc.). Need to extract critical insights (using unsupervised approaches) from the text data and share relevant insights with product, operations, planning and other teams. All the data will be in Japanese language and data needs to be analyzed in the Japanese language only (without translation).

Responsibilities
Design NLP applications.Identify/create appropriate datasets for developing Unsupervised / Supervised models.Use effective text representations to transform natural language into useful features.Find and implement the right algorithms and tools for NLP tasks.Train and fine-tune pre-trained models and run evaluation experiments.Perform statistical analysis of results and refine models.Support in NLP Research, building reproducible codes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with quantitative emphasis. Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Marketing Analytics, or related field. (Master’s Degree desirable)4 - 7 years of experience in developing predictive models using statistical/ML/DL algorithmsStrong hands-on working experience in Python and SQLExperience in state of art NLP models such as transformers etc.Hands on with Deep learning frameworks like Keras, Pytorch, TensorflowStrong communication and presentation skills with the ability to present analyses to a diverse group of stakeholders including data scientists, creatives, and marketing leaders.Team player who enjoys collaborating with others.Strong understanding of fundamentals of predictive model development and algorithms used.Good problem-solving skills
Pay
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $96,000 - $149,000. In addition, for the current performance period, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides for 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take time needed for either sick time or vacation.
