The Chicago Reader is accepting applications for the position of Vice President of Sales. This role reports directly to the Associate Publisher.As part of the Reader team, you’ll work in an exciting industry with an unlimited earning potential and have the support of a knowledgeable and enthusiastic management team and support staff.A VP ofSales is expected to sell print, digital, events, programmatic and third-party advertising, and sponsorships to local businesses. Our VP of Sales will maintain call and meeting quotas, sales revenue targets, and growth for their own desk while working with our sales associates to create and execute campaigns. The new VP of Sales will inherit a book of business and be expected to grow that book, as well as grow revenue in specific business categories.A typical candidate for this role would have :Understanding of media/advertising products, including print and digital.A minimum of 3 years of media sales experience.Working knowledge and experience utilizing a CRM (Salesforce preferred), Slack, and Google Suite products to manage day-to-day activitiesEffective relationship-building skillsDemonstrated success in meeting revenue goals and forecastingExcellent analytical, written, oral, communication, and presentation skillsThe ability to multitask with strong time and project management skillsPossess working relationships with advertisers in Chicago, (tourism, food/restaurant, health, real estate, and financial categories preferred)Have a demonstrated ability to act as a qualified marketing consultant (you can talk the talk when it comes to advertising strategy and marketing goals)Excel at maintaining quotas and deadlines related to sales outreach and sales activity overallUnderstand and be excited about prospecting and building new business categoriesCompensation packages vary (based on experience), and include a base salary, generous commission, bonuses, and health benefits.Diverse candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
