Direct HireThe successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our financial records, supporting the monthly and annual close process, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. This position reports directly to the Controller and involves a range of responsibilities, from managing general ledger accounts to collaborating with various departments for financial analyses.SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Serve as the General Ledger manager, overseeing accounts and maintaining the chart of accounts.Prepare standard monthly journal entries, covering areas such as depreciation, amortization, prepaid expenses, deferred rent revenue, postage, printing, inventory, and payroll.Prepare monthly bank, investment, and revenue reconciliations.Update monthly closing schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.Prepare monthly financial statements to provide insights into the organization's financial health.Collaborate with the Controller to develop work papers for annual audits and IRS Form 990.Assist the Controller and department managers with financial reports and analyses as needed.Review journal entries from the Finance and Accounting Specialist, ensuring accuracy before approval for posting.Collaborate with the Development Department on the funding pipeline.Work with Revenue Specialist on monthly contribution entries and reconciliations. Generate monthly reports from various fundraising platforms and reconcile them with bank deposits.Perform other duties as assigned, including ad hoc reports and analyses.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or businessTwo to four or more years’ experience in accounting; non-profit experience preferredAble to work independently with minimal supervision on short and long term tasksDriven to find ways to make systems and processes more effective and efficientHigh proficiency in Excel and Microsoft OfficeProactive and able to effectively prioritize and execute tasksStrong analytical and organizational skills; creative problem solverStrong communication skills; a team player that is able to explain financial concepts in an effective manner to others at various levels
