Responsibilities

TRC is seeking an experienced Safety Consultant to join our California offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Irvine or San Diego. Remote and hybrid options are available for California residents.

The position requires a strong technical safety service background, project management skills and experience, a solid reputation of building and maintaining key client relationships and a strong interest in business development.

The position will focus on providing health and safety compliance consulting and helping clients to improve their performance to their applicable health and safety goals and objectives. This position will support our national platform to deliver Safety Compliance Programs - Performance Improvement Services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - TASKS

  1. Health and safety risk identification and evaluation.
  2. Health and safety compliance audits to evaluate applicability and conformance with applicable CalOSHA requirements.
  3. Health and safety management system design, development and implementation to specific standards, such as ISO 45001, OSHA Safety and Health Management System, etc.
  4. Development and implementation of written health and safety programs (e.g., hazard communication, lockout tagout, confined space, working from heights, hazardous materials storage, hot work, machine guarding, etc.).
  5. Develop and support safety training program content.
  6. Perform project management, oversight and coordination.
  7. Client relationship management and growth.
  8. Prepare client deliverables.
  9. Mentor project team members.
  10. Travel to client sites as needed.
  11. Work with client account managers and account teams to meet client expectations and increase services provided to the client.
  12. Assisting a variety of industrial operations including power, chemical, food and beverage, aerospace, forest products, rail transportation, oil and gas, retail, etc.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Bachelor's degree in safety, industrial hygiene, science or engineering related field.
  2. 10-15 years of experience with various manufacturing environments across targeted industries.
  3. Experience organizing and conducting CalOSHA health and safety audits.
  4. Experienced in developing and delivering CalOSHA compliance programs.
  5. Experienced in performing safety due diligence assessments.
  6. Experienced in designing, developing and implementing safety management systems (ISO 45001).
  7. Experienced in business development and working with account teams to grow revenue.
  8. An interest in business development.
  9. Intuitive and creative thinker with a consultative demeanor and ability to identify and offer solutions when needed.
  10. Strong communications and technical health and safety skills both written and oral.
  11. Work as a team player to support our national service platform.
  12. Interface well with and develop a rapport and positive relationship with our clients and employees.
  13. Ability to carry equipment such as ladders and air monitoring equipment up to 40 lbs.
  14. Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs.
  15. Be able to wear a respirator, safety harness and other safety equipment as needed.
  16. Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, physical and motor vehicle records check.
  17. Valid Driver's License is required.
  18. Must be able to commute to project sites as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  2. Client management experience preferred.
  3. Service growth experience preferred.

Compensation:

In accordance with CA law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $100,000-$140,000. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
