We are a remote-first workforce with an office in West Concord, MA.Position OverviewWe are seeking a creative, detail-oriented Backend Software Engineer with a passion for building robust, scalable systems to join our nimble and collaborative software engineering team of three talented individuals. You’ll play an important role in crafting the next generation of the backend that powers our innovative healthcare solutions, directly impacting the lives of patients and helping improve results for healthcare providers and payers. This role reports directly to the Software Engineering Manager, who will provide guidance and support your career growth.The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills, expertise writing well-documented production-quality backend code in Python, a strong understanding of RESTful API functionality and design, familiarity with SQL and data-driven software applications, and experience with ML/AI or a strong desire to learn. You are self-driven, a lifelong learner and teacher, enjoy wearing multiple hats, and have a tenacity for working through complex technical challenges, both collaboratively and independently. This position is a Full-time remote or hybrid role anywhere within the continental United States. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. We are unable to sponsor applicants for work visas.ResponsibilitiesBackend Code Development (60%): Write clean, maintainable Python code to help support our current and future products, optimize performance and scalability of our backend to deal with large amounts of incoming and outbound data, collaborate in planning and writing out our next generation RESTful API, collaborate with other internal teams to identify and solve pain points for both internal and external stakeholders.Data Integration (20%): Build efficient data pipelines to ingest, process and store data from a variety of sources, prioritizing data integrity and traceability, and implement robust data validation and error handling to ensure data quality and pipeline robustness.System Maintenance and Support (20%): Ensure the ongoing robustness of our software platform, identify and resolve potential blockers and bottlenecks, troubleshoot bugs and errors and implement forward-facing solutions that promote scalability.Qualifications2+ years of experience writing production level code in Python.A proven track record developing modern web applications.Experience working with backend web frameworks such as Django, relational databases such as Postgres, and designing and building secure, efficient, and scalable RESTful APIs.Experience using version control and collaboration tools, including GitHub.Basic understanding of frontend technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.PreferredExperience with ML/AI and data analysis tools such as Pandas.Healthcare technology interest and/or experience.Our Tech StackBackend: Python, Django, Django Rest Framework, PostgresFrontend: Next.js, ReactJSDevops: AWS, GitHub ActionsWhat We OfferAn opportunity to make a meaningful impact on healthcare through innovative technology.A dynamic and collaborative startup environment where your ideas and contributions are valued – and essential to our growth!A mature culture and supportive environment centered around work-life balance and working smarter, not harder.A hybrid/remote work model with the flexibility to work remotely.
