St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana is developing a Family Medicine residency program. Job Description
The Program Director is responsible for the leadership, organization, operation, and general administration of the Family Medicine Residency Program. The Program Director is also responsible for the standards, quality, and reputation of the program. They will be expected to integrate the program with existing hospital services in a manner that enhances value and quality for patients and residents educational experiences, as well as promote an optimum environment for professional development. The program director must administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the residents in each of the ACGME competency areas. The Program Director will collaborate with the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and DIO to prepare and present routine status reports on the program and its residents, as well as meet all required ACGME standards to obtain and continue program certification.
Responsibilities
- Recruitment and selection of Family Medicine Residents
- Organization of the program including organization of rotations, educational activities, and modeling professional behavior as an example to all program participants.
- Submitting program reports to the GME Committee on request.
- Updating both program and resident records through ACGME Accreditation Data System.
- Ensuring that the implementation of fair policies, grievance procedures, and due process is established and upheld by the GMEC and consistent with the ACGME Institutional requirements.
- Preparing an accurate statistical and narrative description of the program
- Preparing for onsite interviews as requested by ACGME
- Maintaining the quality of the Family Medicine residency program so that it meets ACGME accreditation standards
- General administration of the program including all activities related to recruitment and selection, training, supervision, evaluation, goals and objectives, and resident well-being
Specifications
Experience:
- 3 years of Graduate Medical Education or administrative experience
- Applicants with less than 3 years of experience may be considered for Associate Program Director role
Licensure:
- Certified in Internal Medicine by ABFM or AOBFP
- Louisiana licensure
- State and federal DEA
