As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will be a thought leader in Xcimer influencing and educating technical leads to capture, organize, and track the project system requirements and verification matrix through completion of various projects for laser driven inertial fusion. Your activities will span risk management, configuration and data management, integrated test planning, technical performance measurement management, and lifecycle baseline management. Responsibilities

Carry out systems engineering activities in accordance with system engineering standards and practicesCapture project system requirements and organize and track throughout the programCascade subsystem requirements, interface and verification plans and documentsLead verification through subsystem and system integrationDrive and coordinate technical decision makingConduct risk assessments on laser systems and ensure risk mitigation plans are developed and implementedDevelop, manage, and allocate systems requirements & interfacesManage and execute gated design and operational reviews including PDR (Preliminary Design Review) and CDR (Critical Design Review)Develop, review, and assess verification artifacts throughout the programEnsure all aspects of the system are working across the product lifecycleAct as the negotiator between multiple teams to make sure the system is optimizedDevelop strategies, approaches for specialty engineering (operability, reliability, maintainability, supportability) integration, analysis, and verificationQualifications

Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or other technical field (e.g. mechanical, electrical, systems, etc.)8+ years of Systems Engineering experience (ideally as a systems architect)Experience with systems engineering tools (Jama, DOORS, etc.)Experience working on development programs for large, complex, integrated systems - preferably from the aerospace, nuclear, or space and defense industryKnowledge of current systems engineering and integration tools and methodologiesEffective communication skills, ability to work effectively in teams, demonstrated execution and coordination skillsMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee of granted asylumDesired

Experience with high energy laser systems, optics, pulsed power or fusion energy systemsSystem Safety analysis experience including Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and Functional Hazard AnalysisBasic project management skills including labor estimating and schedule managementDemonstrated configuration management experience

$150,000 - $200,000 a year

Candidates may be considered for other positions at Xcimer Energy, and our actual base salary will be determined on an individual basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. The range is published in accordance with Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and California Equal Pay Act.
