POSITION
The Sunwater Institute is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Developer to join the team developing Legis1, a data-driven platform for improving Congressional performance. Legis1 leverages AI and proprietary datasets to provide tailor-made analysis for lawmakers, lobbyists, executive agencies, and nonprofits. The Senior Full Stack Software Developer will be responsible for developing new features in React and Java, writing tests, reviewing code, and working with the data team to improve site performance. Excellent candidates will also have experience planning complex features, providing recommendations on implementation, and optimizing code performance.
The candidate shall have a thorough understanding of life cycle development through production implementation and post implementation. The candidate shall have the ability to present to various audiences both technical and non-technical. The candidate shall display a strategic view of applications and how they fit into the product space. The candidate shall be creative, comfortable working in small teams, and have the ability to coordinate with US and non-US based developers. The candidate will collaborate with the product team, designers, research scientists, and engineers.
ResponsibilitiesProvide technical leadershipDevelop high quality code for front- and back-endDevelop system architecture and develop component designsProvide technical guidance to team membersTranslate requirements, storyboards, and use cases into functional applications.Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code for both front- and back-endsResearch new technologies and algorithms. Adapt and implement these technologies into practicesIdentify issues and potential risks and implement solutionsImplement unit testing. Ensure development testing is complete and the code is ready for QAImplement ML system reliability testingMaintain code quality and organizationIntegrate large datasetsImplement analytics algorithmsCollaborate with the UI/UX and Product Teams to ensure the technical feasibility of proposed functionality and designsDevelop system technical architecture documentation and design diagramsImplement Scrum and manage releasesRequirements
5+ years of experience in design and development of mission critical high-performance web-based applicationsBachelor's degreein technical field (Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent)Ability to work as full stack developer including front, back-end and database development.Strong coding skillsTechnologies: Microservices, AWS, Java, React, SQL, JavaScript, TypeScript, Spring, MSSQL, HTML, CSS, Open AI, Sagemaker, OpenSearch, Mongo, Neo4jStrong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication, verbal, written, and active listening skills
