As the

Due Diligence and Remediation Department Manager , you will lead a dynamic team responsible for conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Phase II ESAs, and managing the remediation of contaminants within soil and groundwater, encompassing petroleum, chlorinated solvents, metals, and other hazardous substances. Your role is crucial in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, fostering client relationships, and coordinating with regulatory bodies. You will spearhead project management efforts, overseeing a team of professionals, and maintaining effective communication channels with clients and regulators.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 6+ professionals, including environmental scientists, engineers, and field technicians.

Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, promoting professional development and growth opportunities while providing constructive feedback.

Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring the team operates efficiently and meets project deadlines.

Work with UES Management staff to strengthen the department by setting department goals, measuring, and analyzing said goals and developing your staff to accomplish them.

Oversee the execution of Phase I ESAs and Phase II ESAs, ensuring thorough assessments of environmental risks associated with property transactions.

Develop and implement remediation strategies for contaminated sites, addressing soil and groundwater contamination issues effectively.

Manage multiple projects concurrently, from initiation to completion, while adhering to budgetary and timeline constraints.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, geologists, and regulatory specialists, to streamline project workflows.

Stay abreast of environmental regulations, guidelines, and standards, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.

Liaise with regulatory agencies and authorities to obtain necessary permits, approvals, and clearances for ongoing work.

Address regulatory inquiries and concerns promptly, maintaining open communication channels to mitigate compliance risks.

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.

Cultivate strong client relationships, anticipating their needs and delivering solutions that align with their objectives.

Collaborate with business development teams to identify new opportunities for client engagement and project expansion.

Reinforce UES’ Mission, Vision and Core Values through daily actions.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or related field.

A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting with a focus on due diligence, site assessments and remediation projects.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in team management and leadership roles.

Current Certified Environmental Manager (CEM), or eligible for certification per requirements set by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) Corrective Actions Certification Program.

Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with a team in a fast-paced and creative environment, as well as the ability to work independently or in remote locations.

Ability to independently interface with clients and regulatory agencies professionally towards accomplishing project objectives while complying with associated laws, regulations, and agency policies.

Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships, with a track record of successful project delivery and client satisfaction.

Ability to follow company and client safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.

Working knowledge of 2021 ASTM International standard practice for the performance of Phase I ESAs, including conducting thorough site reconnaissance, agency file reviews, historical analysis, and database reviews to identify environmental conditions.

Experience conducting Phase II Site Investigations and long-term monitoring or remediation projects, including the preparation of appropriate investigation design and work plans, overseeing drilling contractors, collecting soil, groundwater, and vapor samples under proper chain of custody, reviewing and interpreting laboratory analytical data, and preparing associated reports and recommendations.

Preferred Qualification:

Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.

Lead and asbestos survey/testing experience.

Current California Professional Engineer or Geologist license and experience working with the California Water Board.

Physical and Travel Requirements:

Travel regionally as needed for client meetings, site visits, and other support.

Work out-of-town for varying amounts of time (overnight trips typically).

Wear personal protective equipment.

Perform duties outside of normal working hours, as necessary.
