Job Summary:
La Rabida is currently recruiting a food service supervisor to join our food service department in Chicago, IL. We are a small children’s acute care hospital focused on treating complex medical conditions, chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, and abuse and trauma.
This person is responsible for the management, coordination and administration of all operational activities, all clinical diet office functions, all inventory controls, ordering and preparation of all dietary formulas, tube feedings and supplements, administrative functions, customer relations and personnel of the Food Service Department. This person plans, schedules and directs the management of the department in accordance with the current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures and ensures that quality food service. They will also maintain a pleasant and comfortable environment for patients, staff and the general public. Lastly, the person in the role supports the hospital mission, and observes hospital core job values with respect to Service Excellence Standards, work quality, productivity teamwork and initiative.
Essential Food Service Manager Functions:
Monitors department productivity to insure maintenance within established unit measurements. Structure work functions to ensure proper staff and resource utilization. Functions include kitchen production, formula development, catering planning, patient and cafeteria menu development and diet office management.
Identifies areas for operations improvement and implements pro-active changes.
Plans and directs the administrative and operational functions to maximize efficiency of resources and meet regulatory requirements.
Develops and maintains relationships with departments and management throughout the hospital and systems.
Works with other departments and Patient Care Units on improving patient services and/or expansion of services.
Participates on Hospital (Safety, CQI, Facility Policy and Procedure) and Professional committees as deemed necessary.
Responsible for ensuring department compliance with all regulatory agency standards, i.e. federal, state, city. JCAHO, IDPH, OSHA, etc.
Ensures that standards of practice are developed, understood, implemented and evaluated within the department.
Develops and incorporates CQI projects for the department that improves the quality of service provided to all customers.
Prepares and administers the departmental operating budgets to ensure sufficient funds and personnel to accomplish departmental objectives within approved financial guidelines of the budget for both non-payroll expenses and wages and salaries.
Monitors monthly budget execution and provides monthly variance analysis.
Promotes an environment that is conducive to staff growth and development, job satisfaction and team development.
What we need from you:
B.S. Degree in Food and Nutrition/Dietetic or Hospitality/Management required.
Minimum 3 years' experience in Food Service Management.
Registered Dietician Certification with Commission on Dietetic Registration required.
Chicago Department of Public Health Certified Food Service Manager certification required within 6 months of hire.
Meet the Illinois Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, Administrative Code Title 77: Public Health, Chapter I: Department of Public Health, Subchapter b: Hospitals and Ambulatory Care Facilities, Part 250: Hospital Licensing Requirements, Section 250.1610: Dietary Department Administration required.
Dietician License of State of Illinois preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) Adobe Acrobat, and Social Media web platforms – required.
