We are hiring a Senior Principal Systems Engineer at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Southwestern Virginia.

An ideal candidate will have experience working on a wide variety of projects within the Department of Defense and experience influencing technical and non-technical colleagues to successfully progress projects from inception to commissioning.

As a Senior Principal Systems Engineer, you will work with engineers in chemical, mechanical, electrical and civil / structural as well as colleagues in program management and contracts to successfully deliver projects.

The Senior Principal Systems Engineer is a key member of our Systems Engineering Team serving as the primary Systems Engineer on multiple complex programs and supporting the end-to-end programmatic and technical lifecycle.

As a Senior Principal Systems Engineer, you will:Interface with the customer and participate in phased gate reviews.Write Statements of Work (SOWs), review proposals, and interface with subcontractors.Lead or support requirements development and management.Develop and manage subsystem and component performance specifications by analyzing and deriving necessary requirements.Develop and maintain requirements verification and compliance, and supporting artifacts.Support requirements decomposition analysis to help drive concept architectures and system characteristics.Lead and facilitate architecture development of assigned system, subsystems, and components.Write Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMPs), track technical risk, develop metrics against Key Performance Parameters (KPPs).Develop use cases and high level Systems Engineering models.Coordinate and facilitate formal decisions and trade studies to drive design and document results.Support the execution and monitoring of cost, schedule, and risk.Coordinate Systems Engineering activities to influence the design.Know when to tailor Systems Engineering processes or develop new processes.

The Senior Principal Systems Engineer must have the ability to collaborate well across diverse multi-discipline teams. Working daily with PM, all engineering disciplines, maintenance, logistics, and operators. Must be equally comfortable in the field or in a conference room.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field and 8+ years work experience.We may consider candidates with less experience for a more junior role.Experience in leading Systems Engineering activities.Experience in every phase of program lifecycle.Experience in use case development.Experience in technical risk management.Experience in requirements analysis and development.Experience in requirements management, traceability, and verification.Experience in requirements and configuration management tool use.Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Experience working with Department of Defense customer.Experience in Systems Engineering early phase concept development and high level modeling.Experience in testing, commissioning and validation activities.Experience in developing maintainability, safety, and human factors requirements.Experience in Systems Engineering metrics development and tracking.Experience in complex real time systems or System of Systems.Experience in manufacturing, chemical processing, or industrial construction.Experience in requirement management software such as Cradle or DOORS.Master's degree in Systems Engineering.INCOSE certification a plus, such as CSEP or ASEP.

Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $115100 - $195700

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
