Windows System Administrator

Location:Fort Belvoir , VA

Job Purpose

GCubed Inc., is seeking a highly skilledWindowsSystem Administratorin theFort Belvoir, VAarea to Provide specialized technical assistance and expertise for mission specific systems.

Essential Functions of the Job

Organize and direct the configuration and operation of information management systems

Provide the day-to-day system administration to include system and resource optimization, and user assistance

Conduct capacity and performance analysis, and provide system configuration change and upgrade recommendations

Increase system administration efficiency and accuracy via the use of automated tools and scripts, develops system administrator procedures, and conducts system administrator training and skills assessment

Determine computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities and programming techniques and controls

Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of systems and performs system capacity analysis and planning

Maintain servers, creates monitoring reports and logs, and ensure functionality of system links

Monitor systems for acceptable performance and user accessibility, establish back-ups, and monitor systems security

Perform multiple tasks concurrently and responds to emergency situation effectively

Create and manage Group Policies (GPO)

Perform security patches, software installation and update using GPO or SCCM server

Troubleshoot, configure, and manager Windows servers (domain controllers, application servers, Exchange servers, file servers)

Provide technical expertise in order to fully utilize Virtual Machine (VM) ware to identify operational and processing problems, evaluate alternative approaches, and perform, plan and implement recommended resolutions, such as load capacity analysis, trend monitoring, resources utilization, and system analysis

Install, test, operate, troubleshoot and maintain virtualized server hardware, operating systems, and applications Software in accordance with DISA STIGS

Test virtualized solutions prior to release into production and administer of the lab environment

Working with VMWare virtual machines and VSAN technologies

Required Qualifications

Minimum of an Active Secret Clearance

Minimum six (6) years of system administrator experience

CompTIA Security+ CE Certification

CompTIA Server+ Certification or MCSA Windows Server 2008 Certification or MCP Certification Windows Server 2012

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of VMWare

Working knowledge of Windows 2008/2012 servers Active Directory environment

Ability to prioritize and multitask

Deadline and detail-oriented

Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Excellent communications skills

Critical evaluation skills

Highly organized and detailed with the ability to prioritize

Thrives in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal supervision

Working Conditions

Primarily in an office environment. Will be expected to travel as needed to company subsidiaries or contract locations. Periodic weekend or evening work is expected.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift 35 pounds
