Job Description
Position Summary:
To drive the Guthrie Cortland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center van to safely transport registrants to and from the program on a daily basis. Understands and adheres to GCMC's Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and GCMC regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they are changed or modified.
Education, License & Cert:
• High School graduate or GED
• Must have an acceptable DMV record and have completed a Defensive Driving Course
• Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers license
Experience:
• Up to three (3) months of on-the-job training
Essential Functions:
1. Transportation of Registrants-
a) Transports registrant to the Nursing Facility each morning and to home each afternoon as scheduled. This is completed in a timely manner.
b) Maintains the facility vehicle and uses it to make daily pick-ups throughout the surrounding area. Travels to neighboring counties for some pick-ups. Reports accidents immediately and completes necessary forms.
c) Operates facility vehicle in a safe manner, observing all traffic laws and reports any violations to personal licensure revocation of same to the Director.
d) In the event of an emergency situation arising with the registrant during transportation the Driver contacts the appropriate emergency personnel and maintains contact with the registrant to help keep them calm. As per the Adult Day Health Care policy #20-1700-38.
e) Maintains credentialing required for operating the van and refreshes this on an annual basis.
f) Maintains the safety of the registrant(s) being transported by insuring that they have their safety belts hooked while vehicle is in motion.
g) Maintains a mileage log for the van when operating such. h) Maintains at least a half of a tank of gas in the van after each use.
i) Maintains the cleanliness of the vehicle after each use by sweeping and wiping down the seats as needed.
j) Maintains a vehicle safety checklist prior to taking out the vehicle at each occurrence and completes a walk around upon return to check for any damage to the vehicle.
k) Notifies the Director of any vehicle repairs needed, i.e., broken tie down straps, seat belts, damage to the vehicle itself or any mechanical problems.
l) Maintains outside of the vehicle by washing it at least monthly and more often as needed.
m) Assists in training new employees.
n) Collects data as needed for the Adult Day Health Care Performance Improvement program.
2. Emergency Preparedness-Demonstrates working knowledge and understanding of emergency preparedness plans and operations.
a) Aware of and actively participates in emergency preparedness procedures and operations.
b) Aware of and actively participates in Code Red, Blue, Yellow, Pink, Orange, Green, and Silver drills and actual events.
The pay for this position ranges from $16.00-$22.37 per hour.
