Description
Provide door-to-door transportation for passengers safely and efficientlyGreet passengers, accept fare payment and maintain a safe environmentPerform various physical duties to successfully complete job responsibilities. These can include but are not limited to, prolong sitting and reaching, frequently climbing and descending steps, boarding and deboarding paratransit passengers, operating the wheelchair lift/ramp, assisting mobility impaired passengers board or deboard buses, and safely securing wheelchairs using a tie down restraint system.Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and push or pull heavy objects. Ability to climb, bend, stoop, walk, get up from sitting position and squat frequently.Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills.Ensure passengers are properly secured and provide assistance with all entries and exitsConduct self in an appropriate manner at all times while working in a diverse environment, assuring a professional quality of service to all external and internal customers. This includes properly answering questions and solving transit related concerns of customers.Completes pre-trip and post-trip inspectionsInspect assigned transit bus for mechanical problems. This includes conducting an external/internal visual inspection of the paratransit bus and pre testing all necessary equipment, operating/safety devices and bus controls for use while in service.Properly report all incidents, accidents, mechanical concernsComplete reports accurately and legibly.Other duties as requiredRequirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and/or move up to five hundred pounds and push or pull heavy objects.Ability to climb, bend, stoop, walk, get up from sitting position and squat frequently.Ability to communicate using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills.Perform various physical duties to successfully complete job responsibilities. These can include but are not limited to, prolong sitting and reaching, frequently climbing and descending steps, boarding and deboarding paratransit passengers, operating the wheelchair lift/ramp, assisting mobility impaired passengers board or deboard buses, and safely securing wheelchairs using a tie down restraint system.QUALIFICATIONS
At least 21 years old and have demonstrated an excellent driving record.A U.S. citizen or have always documented legal work status during the contract term.High school diploma, GED, or equivalentPossess excellent customer service and communication skills.Punctual with an emphasis on attendanceHave appropriate Valid State Operators' License, in addition to any other licenses or permits required for the type of work or vehicles operated for this service.Obtaining such permits is the responsibility of the individual.Ability to obtain For Hire endorsement /Required.Available during all hours of operations 7 days a week and holidays as required by the service.Have good oral and written communication skills, as demonstrated in pre-employment testing.Demonstrate English language competency (reading, writing, and speaking). Bilingual a plusAbility to operate a vehicle.Pass the pre-employment drug test and physical exam if required for the specific position.Comply with the criminal background check requirements set forth by IPTC.All personnel are expected to behave in a professional manner when communicating with customers and the community.All personnel are expected to be polite and courteous in their speech and manner, including exercising patience and self-control.De-Escalation skills and competencies
