Substitute Bus Driver

General Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Transportation, assume responsibility for the safe operation of a school bus. Drive a school bus transporting students to and from school and school activities.

Specific Duties:Obey all state and local regulations and shall, at all times, when employed, hold valid bus drivers' certificates and meet all other legal requirements.In addition driving their assigned routes at the assigned times, clean buses inside and out and do similar related work as directed, such as sweep bus stall, empty trash from receptacle, etc.A bus driver shall not change his/her assigned route or assigned stops thereon, except as directed by the District Superintendent, Governing Board or Director of Transportation.Notify the Director of Transportation of any new students riding the bus.Follow state regulations and district policy as to discipline on the bus, and shall promptly report to a school's principal any major infraction of rules on the forms provided for such reports.A bus driver involved in an accident shall stop the bus at the scene and immediately notify or cause to be notified the California Highway Patrol and the school district.Drivers shall comply with the requirements of Title 5 Sections 14200-14278.Basic Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentPossess a valid California driver's license Class A or BPossess a valid California Special Driver's CertificatePossess a valid Medical Examiner's CertificatePossess a valid American Red Cross First Aid CertificateRequired Skills:Ability to follow oral and written directions.Ability to relate well with students, supervisors, principals and other district employees.Hours
