Job Summary
The
Office of Professional and Continuing Education
is home to Auburn Youth Programs which operates academic, athletic, cheer, and dance summer camps for over 4,000 students throughout the summer.
There are many ways to serve in Auburn Youth Programs.
A successful
Night Program Director
will be a college graduate with prior leadership or camp experience and a passion for impacting and serving youth. We're looking for an individual that can lead and supervise the execution of camp from working with counselors to coordinating any adjustments with campus partners. The Night Program Director supervises evening programs and ensures the smooth and safe operations of all AYP camps and programs and to create an extraordinary Auburn experience for camp participants. Dinner provided while working.
Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being: Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads Assistance with special projects Seasonal work Emergencies If you are looking for an employment opportunity, TES is a great way to showcase your professional skills and assist Auburn University while gaining valuable work experience within higher education.
AU student employees are not eligible for TES.
Essential Functions
Job functions:
Supervise counselors and campers after academic camps have been dismissed from the campus partners. Make sure campers have dinner and snacks at night. Responsible for evening activities. Ensure that counselors are following the evening schedule. Handle discipline problems during the evening hours. Document using the incident forms. Contact the Camp Director if the problem needs immediate action. Handle medical issues during the evening hours. Document using the medical form. Contact the Camp Director if the medical issue needs immediate action. Ensure that counselors are with their groups during evening activities. Verify that counselors conduct room checks at 10:00pm. Supervise the dorm lobby area. Ensure that counselors are not leaving the dorms without permission of the Night Program Director. Counselor to Camper ratio must be maintained. Communicate with parents as needed at night. Assist camp check out for any campers that may be leaving early. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Expectations:
Pass a background check. Possess a valid driver's license. Must have the patience, understanding, flexibility, and energy to work and live with campers and other counselors. Must be willing to sacrifice, adapt, and work hard as part of a team. Must be able to take care of others and display a positive attitude at all times. Serve as an ambassador for Auburn University and role model for all students. Possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
