What you can expect as a SRE/DevOps Engineer at Fortress:

As a SRE/DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for modernizing our deployment processes by transitioning our traditional Ansible deployments to containerized deployments in AWS and on-premises environments. You will also be responsible for improving our existing CI/CD efforts and infrastructure for developers. In this role, you will work closely with development and QA teams to ensure smooth transitions and provide technical guidance to team members.

You will be tasked with automating infrastructure provisioning, monitoring relevant systems for availability and performance, and handling code deployments in all environments. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in an SRE/DevOps role, be highly skilled in deployment technologies such as Kubernetes, Ansible, Jenkins, and Terraform, and have an active Secret clearance. Responsibilities Include

Build upon current CI/CD efforts to support different deployment strategies (Blue/Green, Canary, etc.)Support Development/QA/UAT efforts by building an environment for anyone in the company to test drive a release anywhere in the development lifecycleImprove upon common infrastructure for developers, such as CI/CD pipelines, log/application monitoring, cluster management, and configuration managementMigrate application secrets and configuration from Ansible Vault to Hashicorp VaultAutomate infrastructure provisioning during deploymentHandle code deployments in all environments (cloud, on-premises)Implement tools to monitor and alert with respect to service level metrics and objectivesProvide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on development and operationsMonitor relevant systems for availability and performanceAvailable to support daytime and after business hours release activities

Minimum Qualifications

ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE REQUIRED5+ years hands-on experience in an SRE/DevOps role supporting production systems3 years with configuration and data managementExtensive knowledge of government policy, directives, standards, and DoD industry standards relating to configuration/data management.Production experience supporting Linux-based infrastructure and administering services on AWS (RDS, VPC, ECR (Elastic Container Registry), CloudWatch, Cloud Formation, Lambda, API (Application Programmatic Interface) Gateway) and on-premisesDemonstrable experience with deployment technologies such as Kubernetes, Ansible, Jenkins and Terraform (or similar technologies)Focused on documenting changes so anyone on the team can come up-to-speed on changes quicklyExperience implementing rolling upgrades (canary, blue/green, etc.)Strong scripting and tooling skillset (Bash, Python, JS, etc.)Self-motivated, resourceful and a persistent problem-solving aptitude

Preferred Experience

Excellent written and verbal communication skillsProfessional documentation, presentation, and planning skillsExcellent time management skills and proven ability to multi-task competing prioritiesPrior direct experience in areas such as ACSNs, ECPs, CCPs, RFWs, RFDs, and configuration audits would be advantageous.Experience in deficiency reporting and data management systems like ASE or similar platforms.

Education

BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
