Position Type: Transportation/Bus Driver Date Posted: 12/1/2023 Location: LSC Transportation Center LAFAYETTE SCHOOL CORPORATION Non CDL Bus Driver Salary: Beginning $20.50 per hour Benefits: Full Time position qualify for benefits. Schedule: Monday through Friday when school is in session, weekend and afterschool opportunities available (Both Full & Part Time Positions are available) Reports to: Director of Transportation Job Function: To transport students to and from school and school related events. Training: Paid training available for qualified applicants. Experience: Commercial driving: 1 year (Preferred) License/Certification: Passenger Endorsement (Preferred, can attain through district sponsored training) CDL (Preferred, can attain through district sponsored training) CDL B (Preferred, can attain through district sponsored training) School Bus Endorsement (Preferred, can attain through district sponsored training) KEY DUTIES Major Responsibilities Safe and legal operation of a school bus. Safe and timely transportation of students from origin to destination. Proper loading and unloading of students to assure safety and minimal risk of danger to persons and damage to equipment. Proper handling and accurate completion of all necessary paperwork. Development and maintenance of professional and effective relations between the transportation department and students, parents, and school personnel. Professional representation of Lafayette School Corporation and the student transportation industry through responsible and safe driving. Position Specifications: Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Must have a current School Bus Driver Certification issued by the State of Indiana. Have and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record. An acceptable MRV including: No more than one moving violation in the preceding twelve months. No more than two moving violations in the preceding thirty-six months. No conviction of driving under the influence (DUI) while driving a passenger vehicle in previous ten years. No history of DUI in a commercial vehicle. Meet or exceed the medical requirements of the United States Department of Transportation and the State of Indiana as stated by IC 20-9-1-3-1 sec 1a. Be able to pass all drug and alcohol tests as required by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Have knowledge of U.S. Department of Transportation and State regulations governing safe driving, inspection, maintenance, drug and alcohol use. Have the ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical calculations with sufficient mental ability to handle receipts, road maps, road signs, figure mileage, and complete timecards, etc. Have good communication skills. Be able to follow instructions and take directions via two-way radio. Have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems. Maintain a current CPR and First Aid Certification
