Preparesand reviews Personal and Entity tax returns/work files for completeness,accuracy and compliance; communicates with and trains staff on areas needingimprovement.·
Assumesthe responsibility for the smooth flow of tax returns.·
Monitorstax deadlines to ensure that returns are prepared on a timely basis;communicates with partners during the preparation process to identify any taxissues needing addressing and to pull jobs so that they reach the technicalreview stage timely.·
Monitorsand analyzes all incoming tax notices and drafts responses.·
Managesworkloads and work products of other tax staff members; delegates tax work tostaff.·
Overseestax, tax planning and fixed asset software to ensure defaults are properly set;disseminates software enhancements to staff.·
Contributesto the client service team by producing quality work with quick turnaround andattentive service.·
Trainsaccountants and interns to prepare effective responses to tax notices andreviews for accuracy.·
Performstax research and helps train staff to do the same, schedules annual taxresearch training session for all tax staff.·
Informsclients (or staff member) of tax options available and possible outcomesthrough clear and concise memos, emails or letters.·
Seeksand communicates efficiencies in producing quality work products.·
Initiatesnew work for existing clients.·
Stayscurrent on new legislation and educates staff and clients.·
Supervisesextension process to ensure accurate and timely preparation.Requirements:Education and ExperienceMinimum of a Bachelor of Sciencein Accounting w/150 credit hours and CPA eligibility preferred. Managersnormally have a minimum of 6+ years’ experience as an accountant working withinpublic accounting (or equivalent experience as deemed appropriate by the firm).
Master’s degree in Tax is a plus.Qualifiedcandidates will have experience with all different entity types. Ideal taxexperience servicing complex individuals / 1040 returns and small businessclients. A minimum of three years senior/supervisory capacity is requiredfor a Mgr level position. Candidates must be proactive in tax planningideas/processes. A proven record of building sustainable client relationships.Have a working knowledge of Paperless systems such as GoFileRoom and taxsoftware such as ProSystems or CaseWare. Have a professional demeanor withexcellent communication skills. Enjoy working with people and understand theimportance of nurturing and building the firm's clientele. Be ethical,conscientious, detail oriented, and well organized.In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to sharethat the starting base pay range for this position is $87,000 - $110,000annually. Please keep in mind that this range is base pay only and does notconsider other components that make up the total rewards package for theposition such as eligibility to receive discretionary spot bonus incentives.This range is a reasonable estimate of the current salary range for thisposition. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors includingbut not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and/or education andgeographic location. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at ornear the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions aredependent on the capabilities and experience of the candidate. Incentives, ifany, depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual andfirm performance.·
Manager Bonus Program: Managers are eligible for a discretionary MBO based annual bonus.
