The Product Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the go-to-market products, programs, and services to Current customers.In the role of Product Manager, you will utilize technical knowledge, marketing expertise, and applied analytics to solve problems, develop and execute objectives, and impact short-term and some long-term business goals. You will be responsible for maintaining and developing new state-of-the-art standalone lighting controls solutions to service current and future Current lighting controls markets.The candidate will be a key contributing member of a growing product management organization that interfaces with every function of the company across a diverse global team. They will deliver through influence-based leadership and a mature understanding of the market and customer needs.Work Location is preferred to be Greenville, SC with onsite requirement of a minimum of four days per week in the office. Alternate locations can be discussed.Essential FunctionsBecome the technical expert on standalone controls to the matrixed global team, including the commercial organization, other product managers in the controls and lighting fixtures business, and technology teams.Own the stand-alone lighting controls category. Products within that category include wall box devices, wall and ceiling mount sensors, power supplies, emergency devices, daylight sensing devices, and lighting control panels.Thoroughly understand the current standalone lighting controls market category and develop the strategy to best meet the needs of our customers in that category. This includes constant awareness of competitive landscape, and voice-of-customer/partner. Use this awareness in recommending product positioning and pricing strategies that result in effective and profitable commercialization.Translate that strategy clearly, collaborating closely with our Commercial, Marketing, and Engineering teams in defining the requirements including development of market requirements documents, user stories, and customer experience guidance.Prepare and plan, together with the sales channels, the market introduction of the new solutions, including promotion material and product information, in order to generate the largest impact in the market.Launch your product program to the market and own its full product life cycle.Present and promote Current product offerings at trade shows, trainings, and other industry events.This position reports to the VP, Controls & Life Safety.Travel: ~10%-20%Position CriteriaA demonstrated ability to describe requirements to members of the development and QA teams and answer questions.Solid decision-making skills and the ability to articulate your reasoning while taking the bigger product picture into consideration.Expert ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills to solve complex customer use cases.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and to follow directions.QualificationsBusiness, BS or Eng. Degree. MBA is a plus.Requires high energy, assertiveness, and self-motivated individual to work in a fast-paced technical and business environment with limited direction.Requires strong communication skills and cross-functional breadth to provide strong leadership and direction to product teams.Strong analytical and statistical data-driven skills. Must be able to develop and present new product business cases, cost/benefit analysis, economic modeling, and resourcing plans.Strong planning, problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.Able to articulate a value proposition to a customer.Preferred QualificationsPrevious product management experience.Previous experience with the electrical distribution channel.Experience in controls and device automation industry.Experience in the lighting or building automation industry.Experience working with geographically-dispersed teams.Experience with new product commercialization.
